Lake County has a thriving network of school gardens that are being used to teach agriculture, nutrition and general outdoor appreciation to students around the lake. We have a list of the schools currently maintaining gardens. Please contact school administration if you are interested in visiting them.
If you are a parent or educator and would like to start a school garden or would like support for your existing school garden, please contact Lisa Rogers about the Lake County School Garden Collaborative. This group of school garden champions meets once a month to discuss resources, lesson plans and garden issues, and acts as a support network for educators who want to enhance their lessons through gardening.
